Oil City, PA – PennDOT is reporting work on Peach Street will start up once again now that we are due to begin thawing out. The work on a two-year construction project designed to relieve congestion and improve safety and efficiency at the Route 19 (Peach Street) and Interstate 90 Interchange is scheduled to resume the week of March 18.
The project will create a second left turn lane for both northbound and southbound Peach Street traffic to enter Interstate 90. Work started in March 2012 and is expected to be completed in July 2013.
Work remaining to be completed on Peach Street includes placing a top layer of asphalt pavement, building traffic islands and dividers, completing driveway adjustments, line painting and seeding.
Work remaining on the westbound I-90 on-ramp includes widening slopes and completing construction of an additional ramp lane and road shoulders, placing an ultra-thin layer of pavement on the widened ramp, and placing guiderail, lighting, signs, fence and seeding.
Work remaining on the eastbound I-90 on-ramp includes widening the slope to accommodate an additional ramp lane, building the ramp lane and road shoulder, placing an ultra-thin layer of pavement on the widened ramp, and placing guiderails, lighting, signs, fence and seeding.
The project area on Peach Street extends from approximately 488 feet south of the intersection with Robison Road northward to the intersection with Keystone Drive.
