Get ready for more road construction at the busy Peach Street-I-90 interchange. PennDOT will resume work on that $16 million improvement project next week.
The project includes adding northbound and southbound turning lanes onto Interstate 90. Peach Street was widened last year. This spring, traffic islands and dividers will be installed, with wider on-ramps to I-90.
The entire project should be done by the end of July.
PennDOT Spokesman Jim Carroll said, "We think it will relieve congestion. It will make this a much more efficient and safer interchange."
Much of the work will be done outside the busiest travel times to try to minimize traffic backups and slowdowns.
