Toledo, OH -
It has been nearly a decade since the state's public school science standards have been updated. The new Next Generation Science Standards will roll out in the fall of this year, but they may come with some controversy. While the details of the curriculum are still being worked out, global warming is expected to be taught starting as early as elementary school through high school.
Local school districts are waiting to comment on the new science standards until they get a chance of look at the final draft which is expected in April. Ohio and Michigan are 2 out of 26 states that have worked to develop the standards. Another 10 to 15 states are expected to adopt the standards as well putting 35 to 40 states on the same universal science standard.
