Volunteers for the Royal Family KIDS Camps held their annual celebration banquet Friday night.
The organization helps kids in the Erie County foster system. Each year they hold a week long camp for the kids, and this banquet is way to help raise money for it.
Former First Lady of Pennsylvania Michele Ridge was on hand, along with Glenn Garvin, Vice President of Camps at the Royal Family KIDS. Garvin shared his own experiences with guests, to show why this camp is important for the kids.
"We believe in moments that matter, and that week long experience sticks in their heads," said Garvin. "As they grow older, they being to reflect back and they say, 'wait a second, there was that one adult that showed me, that one adult who cared.' That's why my life was about and that' really what we're here to share, that it makes a big difference in these kids lives."
