Apartment fire forces residents out of their homes and into the rain

Toledo, OHIO (WTVG) - Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire in a local apartment complex early Saturday morning. It forced everyone who lives in the building outside into the rain.

The fire happened just before 3:30 Saturday morning at the Northtowne Village Apartments off Alexis near Bennett.It was on the main floor of one of the town homes.

Three people were inside that apartment at the time but got out safely. Residents in the neighborhood town homes were also forced to evacuate.

Firefighters contained the flames but the upstairs of the building had smoke damage.
