A Toledo man is charged with leading police on a wild chase over the weekend. Tempers flared in the courtroom as the man faced a judge Monday.
Eric Parks is accused of leading police on that chase. Saturday night, police responded to an assault in progress. When they arrived, police say they witnessed Parks hitting a woman before pulling her into a car and taking off.
That's when the chase began. Our cameras were the only ones rolling as the high-speed pursuit came to an end in East Toledo.
Officers deployed spikes on Consaul and Wheeling Streets. The car drove over them and all four tires were hit. The car finally slowed to a stop in a parking lot at the Ravine Park Village Apartments.
Police say Parks' bad behavior didn't end at the scene. They say he continued to hit his female passenger after the car came to a stop and resisted officers during his arrest. Police say Parks also spit at an officer as he was being booked into jail.
The victim was taken to a hospital. We're told she suffered a concussion, numerous stitches to her face and possible facial fractures.
Police say Parks and the victim have a child together.
Parks faces several charges, including kidnapping, felonious assault and failure to comply with officers.
Police say Parks has a criminal history, which includes carrying a concealed weapon, aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery.
