Univ. of Dayton students could be disciplined over party

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - University of Dayton officials say an unruly weekend party in a student housing area resulted in 45 students referred to the school's student conduct system.

The reasons included underage possession of alcohol and disorderly behavior.

The Dayton Daily News reports the students could face warnings, probation or even suspension in the wake of the pre-dawn Sunday party. Media outlets reported more than 1,000 people participated, some climbing on cars, throwing bottles and yelling at police.

Authorities say seven other non-students were arrested and 17 other non-students were charged through the courts, mostly for underage drinking.

School officials are considering policy changes that could include scheduling the school's spring break to coincide with St. Patrick's Day weekend.

About 11,000 students are enrolled at the University of Dayton.
