An Erie family's worst nightmare, is confirmed.
A body found floating in Presque Isle Bay Monday, is a teenager missing since January.
Fire fighters recovered the body Monday afternoon.
The family is obviously devastated, with the news they got Tuesday.
As their worry over the past two months, has turned to grief.
After an autopsy Tuesday afternoon, through dental records, the coroner confirmed that the remains found in a marina near Dobbins Landing Monday afternoon, are that of 17 year old Jacob Samusenko.
Jacob disappeared from his east Erie home back on January 29th.
The coroner has ruled his death accidental, due to drowning.
There are no signs of foul play.
"There was absolutely no marks on the body indicating any kind of trauma or foul play. Based on what we know there was no evidence to suspect that it was a suicide either." Said Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook.
The family says while this news brings some closure, it's still an extremely tough time for them.
And while they grieve, they say they also look back in thanks to the many community searches, where volunteers spent countless hours, searching for Jacob.
"We don't have to wonder where he is at, if he's alive, if he's well, if he's hurting, or if somebody's torturing him or anything." Said Jacob's cousin, Luba Rafferty.
"We're extremely grateful. It just shows that we care about one another. We're not all living in our own little glass bubble, only caring about what's going on with us. It's become the community's worry, not just our family's." Rafferty added.
The family says they've received a big outpouring of support over the past two months, particularly the past couple of days.
So, a fund has been set up at PNC Bank, The Jacob Samusenko fund.
It will help pay for funeral expenses.
The family is planning a prayer vigil for Wednesday night at 6:00.
It will be held at the site where Jacob's body was found, just east of Dobbins Landing.
The community is welcome.
