ROYAL OAK  – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association named Adrian's Michael Mertz its Player of the Week in men's tennis for matches played through March 17.

Mertz, a freshman from Farmington (North Farmington HS), won both his matches at No. 3 singles for the Bulldogs during their weekend trip to Milwaukee in straight sets. After losing the first game in the opening set, he went on to win 24 consecutive games to sweep the matches against Concordia, Wis. (6-1, 6-0) and Milwaukee School of Engineering (6-0, 6-0). Mertz improved his singles record to 10-2 on the season. He also picked up a victory by teaming up with Jordan Verbauwhede at No. 1 doubles for the weekend. Mertz is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and is the first Bulldog to be honored since Ryan Delacy in week five of the 2012 season.
