Utility crews are repairing a gas valve that was hit by an out-of-control car, which slammed into a nearby garage.
It happened around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday morning along County Rd 53 (old U.S. 24) near the Waterville business district.
Witnesses say the driver clipped another car then lost control.
Evidence inside the vehicle showed signs of injury, but those who live here say the driver took his license plate and ran away.
The Waterville police chief says officers recovered a temporary tag from the vehicle. It shows the car is registered to a home in East Toledo. Officers found the driver at the residence Wednesday afternoon.
Police say charges are pending, and the driver's name is being withheld until they're filed.
