A spokesperson for Toledo Public Schools tells 13abc an 8th grader from Deveaux Elementary was approached by a stranger Wednesday morning. The student ran to the school and is safe.
The suspect was described as a short, stocky white male with black hair. He was wearing a white v-neck shirt and a stocking cap. The man was not wearing a coat. He was reportedly driving a white Suburban and was last seen heading west on Sylvania Avenue.
Toledo Public Schools stresses student safety is a top priority. The district sent a letter to all elementary students in the Start Learning Community. Families in the Start Learning Community also received a call alerting parents and students of the situation.
Students are reminded to walk in groups and pay close attention to their surroundings. Students should report anything suspicious to school administrators or Toledo Police.
