My NCAA bracket took a nose dive when Ohio State lost in the Elite Eight. I had the Buckeyes going the distance but I did have Michigan and Louisville winning their respective regions. Anyway, the lineup for Saturday on WSEE has Wichita State against Louisville at 6:09 pm followed by Syracuse against Michigan at 8:49 pm. The winners meet in the title game at 9pm on Monday night on WSEE and another March Madness will be behind us.
Opening day for MLB and everyone is hopeful this time of year, yes, even the Pirates. After two seasons of showing signs they could finish with a winning record and maybe challenge for the Division title, I think the Pirates will learn from their collapses and do well. But I won't promise a winning season. With the Pirates, I'll believe it when I see it. A lot of pressure on Clint Hurdle this season who some blamed for the collapse of the Bucs last August and September. Some even called for him to be fired. If they get off to a shaky start, have a bad season all together or collapse again down the stretch, calls for his departure will surface again.
Did you see Sid Crosby get hit in the face with a puck on Saturday. Right in the face and that must have hurt. It seems the one thing that could derail the Pens march for a Stanley Cup would be key injuries and Crosby will be out indefinitely. Hopefully he can come back in time for the playoffs. I don't know if you've ever been hit by a puck, but it really, really hurts !!! A hard disc of rubber can cause some serious damage. The Pens, while having other great players, just aren't the same without their captain.
