Erie Man Heading To Trial For Allegedly Beating Woman To Death

Posted: Updated:

An Erie man accused in the beating of his girlfriend back in November, will be heading to trail on a homicide charge.

Monday morning, 51 year old Jeff Selby waived his preliminary hearing on the charge in the case.
Investigators say back in November Selby brutally beat his girlfriend, Mary Smith, in her west 17th street apartment.
Smith died in a hospital 3 days later.

In January, a district judge dropped the murder charges, after learning that Coroner Lyell Cook ruled the cause of death as "undetermined."
The district attorney's office re-filed the murder charge last month.
A trial date has not yet been set.
