Students at Gannon University gathered in Perry Square on Monday to Take Back the Night.
Take Back the Night is an event that happens across the country, to remember victims of sexual assault and violence.
Gannon students take part in the walk each year. They hear stories from survivors at different stops along the way.
Organizers say it's all about creating an environment of safety and respect for all.
"To me, it's very important because violence is something that crosses all genders, all ages, all socioeconomic, and there's a need to have a safe, caring and nurturing environment," said Dr. Carolynn Masters, Provost of Gannon University.
Dr. Masters said this year was the biggest turnout since they university began participating in the walk.
