Mother Faces Years in Jail in Death of Son

Posted: Updated:

Twenty three year old Leslie Holmes showed no emotion as she was sentenced to four to eleven years in jail under a plea arrangement for the death of her infant son Jasper.

The lack of emotion from the defendant has been a key factor in her case.

Holmes and boyfriend Matt Clark were in the Riviera Motel with five month old Jasper in February of 2012.

Police were called when the baby became unresponsive. What they found was a badly beaten and shaken child, who had endured a broken arm and leg, bruises, a bite to the ear and shaken so badly that blood had begun to pool in his eyes and run down his spine. He died from his injuries.

Holmes didn't show any emotion at the scene either, making police suspicious of a mother so callous.

The defense would later claim that Holmes is incapable of showing emotion, but that shouldn't be confused with feelings of remorse or sadness over the loss of her son.

Clark has also pled guilty, to one count of endangering a child. Because he was not a custodial parent he faces jail time significantly less than Holmes.

While the defendant did not show emotion many onlookers were shocked by the severity of Jasper's injuries. Even the judge raised his voice when he asked the defendant directly "Where were you when he needed you?"

Where Leslie Holmes will be for the next four to eleven years..is in jail.
