Last month, both the Franklin Township treasurer and secretary suddenly resigned at the same time.
Tonight, a group of concerned citizens demanded to know why. It was the topic of discussion at the Franklin Township Supervisors meeting.
Dozens of citizens wanted to know the reasoning behind the resignations of Franklin Township Secretary David Henderson and Franklin Township Treasurer Bonnie Bernhardt. But according to supervisors, they were not given a specific reason.
Citizens at the meeting say that since the two employees stepped down, there have been a lot of rumors and they are asking for transparency from supervisors.
"They quit a month ago...both of them at the same time," said Denny Russin of Franklin. "It just leaves a little question mark for everyone in the area."
The residents are also calling for an audit of the township. Supervisors say, they are already looking into one.
"We do not believe that there is anything missing from the township office," said Franklin Supervisor Dennis Howard. "Whether it be files on the computer, or physical objects in the township office. We are not aware of anything that's missing."
Tonight, supervisors also elected Ramona Junkins as the new secretary.
