Fire Leaves Over A Dozen East Erie Residents Homeless

Posted: Updated:

Erie firefighters respond to a fire in a 2 story apartment house, on the east side Thursday night.

The first call came in around 8:10.

The local Red Cross is helping the 10 to 15 residents find temporary shelter, after they were forced out of their apartments.

When Erie fire fighters arrived, they weren't sure all the residents were out. So, crews raced in to do a quick search.

Fire fighters say  the fire started in the back of the home, and spread up the walls into the attic.

It took crews about 15 minutes to knock it down.

Fortunately, everybody got out safely and nobody was hurt.

Right now, they're looking for the cause.
