Gannon University students got in on the cleanup action all around Erie.
They got their hands dirty in gardens all over the city, including at the Erie Art Museum.
About 500 students got involved in beautification projects.
The university puts out the call to students every year for their "Day of Caring," and some groups like sororities, sports teams and international students got together to lend a hand.
"It adds to the community involvement and... we should be paying our part to the community which gives us so much," said Junior Tabish Jaleel Shaikh, an international student who is spending the semester at Gannon.
Some students escaped the cold, working inside with Catholic Charities and the Neighborhood Network.
