Toledo finished in second place on Saturday in the Angola Shootout hosted by Ball State University. The one-day tournament was reduced to 18 holes due to snow this morning.
Freshman Manisa Isavas paced the Rockets and tied for fourth place overall with a four-over par 76. Sophomore Jennifer Elsholz was just one stroke behind Isavas at five-over par 77 to tie for seventh place, while freshman Sathika Ruenreong and junior Kate Hoops tied for 12th place at six-over par 78.
Rounding out the Rocket lineup was sophomore Stephanie St-Jean tied for 34th place at 11-over par 83.
Senior Allison Schultz led four Toledo individuals with a seven-over par 79 to tie for 16th place. Also competing in the tournament were freshman Emily Dixon (T-21st/80), freshman Morgan Salm (T-39th/84) and sophomore Megan Carroll (T-43rd/85).
"The conditions were extremely cold and windy and I was happy with how we battled out on the course," Toledo Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth. "The weather this spring hasn't been good, but it's just something we have to deal. We have a balanced team, and an encouraging sign for us today was the Allison (Schultz) was able to play an entire round after being sidelined for the last month."
The Rockets will now set their sights on the Mid-American Conference Championship being held next weekend (April 26-28) at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, OH.
