Plans to Reopen Millcreek Golf Course

Posted: Updated:

It appears the Millcreek Golf and Learning Center is coming back to life. It closed 2 years ago because of the airport runway extension project.

Right now the course is overgrown, with grass in sand traps and greens gone to seed. The township will have to entirely rebuild 2 holes, reconfigure others and move irrigation lines impacted by the runway project. That work could start this fall.

The goal is to re-open the 9 hole course in 2015. Money is already budgeted. The work is estimated to cost about $100,000.

But first, the driving range is expected to reopen once new netting is installed.

Supervisor Brian McGrath said, "We have the nets ordered. They should be here shortly. We think in 3-4 weeks. In another 3-4 weeks we will have them installed. Our crews are doing the work. Hopefully by July we will have the driving range operational."

The course opened in 2002. It was build on the site of a former hazardous waste dump site.
