The Bowling Green track and field team took a limited squad to the Toledo Invitational over the weekend, looking to improve seeding for the Mid-American Conference Championships this week.
The 4x400 relay team of Taylor Rambo, Felicia Jefferson, Brittany Sinclair and Allison Weimer came up just shy of the school record with a winning time of 3:44.58. That mark is 10 seconds faster than the Falcons have run this year and is less than one second from the BGSU record. It also vaults the Falcons into the third-best time in the MAC this year.
Two individuals set personal bests at the meet as well. Dana Gates went over 18 feet in the long jump for the first time in her BGSU career with a distance of 18-1. As well, Kayla Velasquez threw the hammer two inches further than her previous best with a toss of 162-10.
BGSU will head to the MAC Outdoor Championships this week in Akron. The event begins Thursday and runs three days long.
