Laura Victoria is living a dog owner's worst nightmare.
On January 21, her 15-year-old Rottweiler named Aussia, went missing from her backyard.
"We continued to search every day," said Victoria. "On foot it was below zero weather at night time, and Aussia wasn't anywhere."
A week later, Laura says she began receiving disturbing text messages.
"I received text messages that my dog had died, and that she was put in a trash can in the dumpster at the Corry Fire Hall." said Victoria.
For weeks, Victoria and her family searched everywhere for Aussia. But on April 8, she received the grim news from a family friend.
"She said I'm pretty sure my husband and the guys at the fish hatchery are pulling your dog out of the water." said Victoria.
According to Laura, nothing could prepare her for what she was about to see.
"Her legs, all four of her ankles appeared to have been tied down, they were rubbed raw," said Victoria. "Her nose was ripped...she had bite marks all in her mouth and around her mouth, and her head was smashed in."
In an effort to create awareness about this incident, Laura created a Facebook page "Justice for Aussia" which is already gaining a lot of attention.
"I didn't expect people to react," said Victoria. "All over, everywhere. Austrailia, India, everywhere."
Victoria hopes that her story can help prevent something like this, from happening to another animal.
Phone calls to Corry City Police and Corry State Police about this incident weren't returned.
