Congratulations to the Erie Explosion for winning the CIFL title on Sunday and finishing the season with a perfect 12-0 record. We've had many of the Explosion players on our sports shows over the course of the season and they have all represented themselves and the team very well. I liked this team because it was not your typical indoor football team based solely on offense. They ran the ball and played defense too and it won them the title when Richard Stokes ran for the go-ahead score with 1:48 left and the defense stopped Saginaw to clinch the one point win. Nice job by head coach Shawn Liotta to create a real team-oriented atmosphere and it showed.
Tiger Woods has won four times already in 2013 and is getting better. I don't think he'll ever get back to the dominating form of 2000-01 but he is close to it. I don't feel bad for Sergio Garcia since he brings a lot of controversy on himself by his idiotic comments at times. I think Sergio, like a lot of golfers in the last 15 years or so, has to be frustrated by constantly looking up to Tiger Woods. If you take Woods out of the equation, many other golfers, including Sergio Garcia, would have a major or two in their trophy case. That's what the guys who played alongside Jack Nicklaus had to endure 30 or 40 years ago. Just the luck of the draw I guess.
The Penguins next series begins Tuesday night at home against the Ottawa Senators. While Tomas Vokoun stepped in and perhaps saved the series with the Islanders with his play in goal, I have to believe that they will need Marc Andre-Fleury to step up and get back into form if they want to win the Cup. Fleury will likely start game one against the Senators on Tuesday night.
