Sinkhole Opens Up On Erie's West Side

Posted: Updated:

Recent storms, and all the rain we've been getting may be to blame for a huge sinkhole which opened up Thursday night, in the intersection of 23rd and Myrtle.
It measures about 5-feet by 4-feet, and about 5-feet deep.

Engineers think a rainwater sewer pipe nearby may have broken from the heavy rain, washing away the ground under the street.
Myrtle and 23rd have been closed for 1 block in each direction.
They hope to have it fixed by Thursday.
