ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan football team announced today (Wednesday, June 12) that kickoff for its Aug. 31 season opener against Central Michigan is set for 3:30 p.m. EDT, while the Sept. 14 game against Akron will begin at noon EDT. Both contests at Michigan Stadium will be televised by the Big Ten Network.
Michigan has played Central Michigan just three times previously -- the Wolverines lead the series 3-0 -- including a 41-17 victory in 2006. Meanwhile, it will mark the first-ever meeting between U-M and Akron.
Start times for five of the Wolverines' seven home games now have been confirmed on the 2013 football schedule. The Wolverines will host Notre Dame at the Big House at 8 p.m. EDT on Sept. 7 (ABC, ESPN or ESPN2) and face Minnesota on homecoming at 3:30 p.m. EDT on Oct. 5 (ABC, ESPN or ESPN2). The Big Ten Network will carry U-M's Oct. 19 matchup against Indiana at Michigan Stadium, set for 3:30 p.m. EDT.
Michigan also will travel to Penn State on Oct. 12 for a 5 p.m. EDT kickoff in a game that will be televised on either ESPN or ESPN2.
