Camp Cadet

Posted: Updated:

A summer camp that is not all fun and games is now underway in Meadville. It's Camp Cadet, run by the Pennsylvania State Police.

More than 60 teenagers, between the ages of 13-15 are learning about hard work, discipline and teamwork during the week long camp at Allegheny College. They are also getting an up-close look at police work, including how to safely make a traffic stop.

Instructors say they do everything possible to make the lessons like the real thing.

Trooper Brian Arrington said, "The training is very realistic. We go through the scenarios we have already been through as troopers. We let the cadets go through with us and show them the danger. So most of the time they are doing the re-enactments of things we have already done or participated in."

Many past graduates of Camp Cadet have gone on to have careers in law enforcement.
