"Look twice, save a life."
That's the overall message a local motorcycle group is hoping to spread, following two fatal motorcycle crashes this past week.
The two victims are both men from Lake City. Three women are also recovering from injuries that they sustained in those accidents.
The most recent accident happened Wednesday night at the intersection of West 6th and 8th streets in Millcreek, near the Waldameer entrance. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 55-year-old Dale Kunselman, was pronounced dead a short time later at UPMC Hamot. His passenger, 51-year-old Jeanne Edwards, is listed in critical condition.
According to police, 21-year-old Alex Pearson of Erie was driving the car involved in the accident. His passenger, identified as 28-year-old Erica Leuschen, suffered minor injuries.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, 49-year-old Joseph Cesario was killed in an accident in Bloomfield Township, after his bike and a Volvo station wagon collided. His passenger, identified as 49-year-old Jean Rosenthal, is now recovering at UPMC Hamot with serious injuries.
According to Injured Motorcycle Riders Foundation Founder Steve Weston, in order to prevent these accidents from happening, it's going to take a community effort.
"You have to watch out for us, we have to watch out for you," said Weston. "I think it's important that we all work together in our community in that regard."
