A jury in Chautauqua County today ruled that Nushawn Williams should not be released from civil confinement.
Williams gained national attention in the 1990's when he was accused of infecting several women with HIV. He completed a 12 year prison term for statutory rape and other crimes. But he remained confined because prosecutors argued he was a sexual predator.
Today the jury in Mayville determined that Williams has a mental problem that makes him more likely to commit more sex crimes.
A judge will determine how long Williams will remain confined.
