Crawford Central School District has made a decision on how to cover a budget deficit of $135,000.
Some feared that staff cuts may be in the works, but the board opted for a tax increase instead.
The board president said that after cutting staff for the past two years in a row, cutting more jobs would reduce the quality of the district's education system.
"The last two years we have cut almost 20 percent of the employees of Crawford Central School District," said Board President Jan Van Tuil, "so when we went into this years budget process the administration told us that absolutely no more cuts could be made, that we were bee bones as it was."
That tax increase will cost the average family about $30.00 a year.
