First Place

Posted: Updated:

I can't remember the last time this has happened. The Pirates and Indians both being in first place this late in the season.  It is happening right now, July 2nd, 2013.  I can't ever remember a time when both teams made the playoffs too.  So perhaps we'll go from the basement to the penthouse in 2013 with both clubs.  Still a long way to go.

Gotta give Jim Kelly a lot of credit. The former Bills QB and Hall of Famer recently had surgery to remove cancer from his jaw.  We knew how tough of a competitor he was when he played but the way he has handled the setback in life we can all take a lesson.  From the death of his young child to a rare disease to battling cancer, Kelly says it's all part of life, dealing with the good and the bad.  The amazing thing is that in each of his setbacks, he has tried to do something to help other people in the same situation.  He may never have won a Super Bowl in Buffalo but Kelly is a champion is life without a doubt.

Does it seem there is a lot more pitchers throwing at hitters these days in the majors. ???  It's a cut throat business and the best pitchers are the ones who have to hold their ground and not give in.  Sort of a one on one, man versus man situation.  You hit me, I'll hit you.  It"s like fighting in hockey, just part of the game I guess
