All across Erie County, people were taking part in Independence Day celebrations. Along with Liberty Park, Girard, North East and Waterford, all had firework displays. It was all part of the Perry 200 Celebrations. And people in Waterford said there is nothing better than Independence Day in America.
Plenty of people came out to fill Gazebo Park, on the Fourth of July, before the big firework show.
Many there were spending our country's birthday with their family and friends, and reflecting on what Independence Day means to them.
"To keep this country pulling as one, in one direction," said Jeff Smith of Waterford. "People join together, and stand together for a common goal."
"Time to celebrate the birth of our country and independence that we've had," said Parker Russell of Waterford. "Also, along with Memorial Day, honor the people that served and help keep us free and protect our liberties."
For the people of Waterford, Independence Day is extra special they say, because of all the history that surrounds the town.
