Lourdes University's women's volleyball team will play 14 home matches during the 2013 season as head coach Greg Reitz has unveiled the Gray Wolves' slate for the upcoming fall.
The Gray Wolves will open their fourth season of collegiate volleyball at the Michigan-Dearborn tournament Aug. 23-24, playing two matches each day. Lourdes will then head home to Tam-o-Shanter on Aug. 28 to host Siena Heights in a non-conference tilt with the Saints.
Lourdes will play another non-conference contest against Lawrence Tech before heading to Georgetown, Ky. to participate in the Rumpke Invitational Sept. 6-7. The Gray Wolves will face four teams from out of the region, battling the host Tigers as well as Saint Thomas (Fla.), Indiana-Southeast, and Xavier (La.). Lourdes will be facing all four schools for the first time in program history. The terra cotta and black will then wrap up the six-match road trip by opening Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play at Madonna on Sept. 11.
After playing 10 of its first 11 matches away from home to start the season, Lourdes will play 10 of 13 matches at home from Sept. 18 through Oct. 23. Four straight home matches begin with a visit from Cornerstone before non-conference tilts against Roberts Morris (Ill.) and Saint Xavier continue the homestand. Lourdes also will face Spring Arbor and Rio Grande at Tam-o-Shanter as part of the 2013 non-conference schedule while also traveling to Bethel (Ind.).
Lourdes will host a tri-match on Nov. 2 entertaining both Calumet and Huntington before closing the regular season at home on Nov. 6 hosting Concordia (Mich.). The Gray Wolves will then take part in the WHAC tournament Nov. 13, 15, and 16.
Lourdes went 14-18 overall and 5-6 in WHAC play during the 2012 season. The Gray Wolves tied for seventh place in the conference.
