For many, the 4th of July weekend is a long one, maybe four days so enjoy the summer while it's here. A couple of reminders about some things. First of all, our Sunday SportsBlitz show at 11:30 am on WSEE has some great guests again this week. Erie hockey legend Pierre Lagacy joins us to talk about an Erie Pro Hockey reunion coming up later this month with a golf tournament and dinner. These guys stay in contact with on another, at least some of them do, and the bond they developed playing hockey lasts a lifetime. Some interesting comments from Pierre about hockey in Erie right now too. Corey Coleman, the head coach of the Strong Vincent boys basketball team tells us about an AAU tournament coming to the area this summer and how competition like this can only help local basketball in the future. Joe Orengia will be on hand too. He's got an outdoor power lifting event coming up later this month. That's the Sunday Sportsblitz on WSEE at 11:30 am this Sunday July 7th.
As I've mentioned here before, I've had the chance to travel to Puerto Rico once a year for about a week to ten days to cover events for our One Caribbean TV Network. This past February, I visited the Roberto Clemente Complex and it was an embarrassment to say the least. Now comes word that they will be spending 6-million dollars in government and private money to bring it back to a state of the art complex. Clemente, as every Pirate fan knows, is one of the best players in the history of baseball, and defiantly the best ever from Puerto Rico. Natives of the island have a lot of pride and the state of the complex in recent years had to be a sore spot for many. Now, they can be happy in two or three years and be proud of the facility and proud of Clemente's name attached to it. I hope to do a report on it when I travel next week to San Juan.
