Three Rocket seniors were named to the official watch lists for national football awards this week.
Running back David Fluellen (Lockport, NY) was named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, given annually to the national player of the year; wide receiver/kick returner Bernard Reedy (St. Petersburg, FL) was named to the watch list for the Hornung Award, presented to the nation's most versatile player; and center Zac Kerin (Delaware, OH) made the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, given to the nation's top center.
Fluellen rushed for 1,498 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior, finishing eighth in the nation with a 124.8 yards per game average. He was a Doak Walker Award semifinalist as the nation's top running back. Three times he rushed for over 200 yards in a game, including 228 vs. Buffalo on Oct. 27.
Reedy caught 88 passes for 1,113 yards and six TDs, and also scored four times on kickoff or punt returns. He made All-MAC at three positions in 2012: wide receiver, kickoff return and punt return.
Kerin is the leader of UT's offensive line and has earned All-MAC honors the past two seasons. He also earned Academic All-MAC honors in 2012.
