A state audit just released has some surprising results about how the Millcreek Township School District has been run.
Turns out, according to the state, it hasn't been run properly. The audit was done from December 2004 through February 2013.
Its shows a number of wrong doings, including: inaccurate budgets, improperly moving money to the general fund and not notifying the board with monthly financial updates.
According to Auditor General Eugene DePasquale, this audit shows "serious management and fiscal problems" within the district. He's says the district must fix these problems, so "wasteful business practices" do not continue.
"Numer one, it's important for them to put out a strong financial management team in place in the district. Number two, is it's important for the school board to really start having a hands-on approach to this, and hold those professional accountable for the job they're doing."
