University of Toledo senior David Fluellen (Lockport, NY) was one of 50 players in the nation named to the watch list for Walter Camp Player of the Year.
Fluellen rushed for 1,498 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior, finishing eighth in the nation with a 124.8 yards per game average. He was a Doak Walker Award semifinalist (top 10). Three times he rushed for over 200 yards in a game, including 228 vs. Buffalo on Oct. 27.
Fluellen is also the watch list for the Maxwell Award, presented to the national player of the year, and the Doak Walker Award (nation's top running back).
The watch list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists in mid-November. The 2013 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the 125 NCAA Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced live on ESPN SportsCenter on Thursday, December 12. The winner will then receive his trophy at the Foundation's annual national awards banquet on January 11, 2014 at the Yale University Commons in New Haven.
