I don't think Tiger Woods will win the PGA Championship this weekend at Oak Hill CC in Rochester, NY. While he is playing well right now, all season for that matter with five wins to his credit, his putter has failed him in the majors, especially on the weekend. Brandt Snedeker is my pick to win. He is due and has been playing well now for over a year except when he suffered a rib injury that set him back a few weeks, but he can back and is playing well again. I just think he is due.
Heading down to Penn State media day on Thursday to check out the Nittany Lions and their second year under Bill O'Brien. Obviously, they exceeded expectations last season but should we expect the same this year. Whoever wins the QB job will be taking his first snaps in major college football so that is a question mark. Eventually, I think incoming freshman Christian Hackenberg will win the job and be the starter for the next three years but there very well could be growing pains. My predictions for the Lions is 7-5, which will be good considering the sanctions that are just now starting to show an effect with a limited roster.
It's getting to mid-August and the Pirates are still holding onto first place in the NL Central. I predict, if their pitching holds up, they will at least make the playoffs this season but won't advance past the first round. Sorry Pirates fans. Let's not get greedy. Remember this could be your first winning season in 20 years. Making the playoffs would be a huge step in the right direction.
