The University of Toledo's 2013 football television ad campaign has earned an Award of Distinction from the 2013 Videographer Awards. Toledo-based Communica, Inc., created the campaign for the university.
The Videographer Awards recognize outstanding achievement in video and digital production skills. More than 1,500 entries from throughout the United States and 11 other countries were submitted for the 2013 competition. Only 22 percent of all of the entries earned an Award of Excellence or Award of Distinction. Projects receiving an Award of Distinction were written, produced, shot and/or edited in a manner exceeding industry standards.
The ads were shot and produced in a way that would increase the excitement leading up to the 2013 football season. "We wanted to take a more cinematic approach to the ads this season," explained Jonathon Kimble, Communica director/writer. "We shot the ads at a slower frame rate to emphasize the drama. It really demonstrates the preparation and heightens the anticipation for the coming season or the next game." Ads developed in advance of each home game in the 2013 season will use the same style.
Added UT Vice President and Athletic Director Mike O'Brien, "We are extremely pleased with the television ad campaign that Communica created for us. We feel the campaign captures the drama and excitement of Rocket football, as well as emphasizing the unique connection between the UT football program and the Toledo community in which we live."
"We are honored to have been selected for this award," said Debbie Monagan, Communica president. "The University of Toledo has challenged us to extend the boundaries in our advertising concepts and production. We are very pleased with the results of the 2013 football campaign."
