Dozens of Erie athletes were working up a sweat outside on Saturday, playing some hoops.
The parking lot of the Bayfront Convention Center was transformed into 12 basketball courts, for the Highmark Downtown Showdown 3-on-3 tournament.
The Downtown YMCA organized the showdown to raise money for their "We Build People" campaign, which helps cover memberships for people in need.
It also carries out the Y's mission to promote athletics in Erie.
"We have a lot of youth who just love basketball, our teen center, that's pretty much the main draw is basketball leagues," said Downtown YMCA Executive Director Sean Beers. "I think it's just a good way to have them doing something that's positive."
This was the second year for the tournament.
