Man Killed in Tree Cutting Accident

Posted: Updated:

Authorities have released the name of the local man killed in a tree cutting accident in Mill Village Sunday afternoon.  He's identified as 50-year-old Douglas Brown.  He was hit and killed by a falling tree about 4:30 PM Sunday.  The tragic accident happened off Watson Road, near Pinewood Road in Rockdale Township.

According to Crawford County Coroner Scott Schell, Brown was helping his elderly father cut firewood.   The two were using a tractor to pull one tree out, when it fell on another large tree, causing that tree to fall.  Brown was struck by the tree, suffering blunt force trauma to his head.  The coroner pronounced him dead at the scene of the accident.
