Program Aimed At Getting Diplomas Comes to Erie

Posted: Updated:

A new program is coming to Erie this fall, helping people with GEDs obtain their high school diplomas.

It's called The Diploma Program, and it takes students 160 hours beyond their GED, to earn a diploma with the Erie School District.

The Warren Forest Higher Education Council created this program five years ago, and have seen 50 students successfully complete it.

There's more built into this program, that teach the skills that employers want to see.

"Like in our math program, it isn't just Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry 1," said Donna Smith, the program manager. "We've also built a lot of industrial math into it so that when they're done with the program, they're not just ready to go to college, but also ready for the work force."

The diploma program will begin this fall in both Corry and Erie. For more information, click here.
