If you have a strong opinion about the decision to move e bus routes off State Street and onto Peach and French Street, you can voice it tonight. The change took effect June 8. Some unhappy riders say they didn't have a chance to voice their opinions before Mayor Sinnott's administration and EMTA, the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority made the change.
Some riders don't mind the change, others are not happy about it and city council members want all sides to be heard.
A representative of the mayor's office will be at the hearing, so will Dennis Solensky, Executive Director of EMTA. He says he's willing to listen to the input, but he also says he's heard a lot of positive feedback on the change. Some say it expands the downtown business corridor and is bringing more people downtown.
Solensky admits there are some persistent critics of the change. He's eager to hear the input. He says EMTA has already used public opinion to create training for people to learn about the route changes, and to work with the city on improved lighting at some of the new stops.
