Update: Driver In Deadly Erie Motorcycle Crash Identified

Posted: Updated:

A 22-year-old man is dead after an accident on Wednesday evening on Erie's west side.

It happened around 5:20 PM in the 1000 block of West 21st Street, between Raspberry and Cascade.

Erie police say it looks like a car pulled into the path of the motorcycle, as the car was trying to turn into a driveway.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Elliot Tirpak, of West 26th Street.

Erie County Deputy Coroner Korac Timon said Tirpak was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

"The circumstances are under investigation. They're determining speed and things like that, so I don't know if speed contributed or not, but a helmet may have helped in this case."

Timon says an autopsy has yet to be scheduled. The accident remains under investigation.
