Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook said that there has been an increase in motorcycle deaths for 2013.
In all of 2012 there were nine fatal motorcycle accidents in Erie County. This year, after the two this week, the number has surpassed last years, and is a 10 for the 2013 so far.
The most recent accident happened Thursday at the intersection of West 17th Street and Peninsula Drive in Millcreek Township Police say 30-year-old Dave Salvatore, of McKean, was heading home from work when the accident occurred.
On Wednesday, 22-year-old Elliot Tirpak, of Erie, was killed in accident on West 21st Street in the City of Erie.
Cook said that the weather will play a role in the final number of fatal accidents for 2013. The nicer the weather, the longer the riding season and a greater chance for more accidents.
It's important for both drivers and motorcyclist to be alert when on the road.
