The construction on the Mead Avenue bridge in Meadville has hit another roadblock. Penndot has postponed the scheduled date for opening construction bids on the replacement bridge. It has now been pushed back to the spring of 2014. The bridge project was expected to be finished by this spring, but that completion date is now in question. The bridge spans French Creek between Meadville and Vernon Township. It was closed in March of 2007 after an inspector found deficiencies. Plans call for a new, and larger bridge to be built. The project is expected to cost some 10 million dollars.
