Other teams in the field include New Mexico (No. 5 in final Golfweek ranking), Kent State (No. 23), Baylor (No. 48), Central Arkansas (No. 89), Iowa State (No. 95), Michigan State (No. 101), Notre Dame (No. 117), Penn State (No. 131) and NCAA Division III member St. John's University (MN).
"This is the toughest field we'll see all season and it will give us a good idea of where we stand and what we need to work on," Head Coach Jamie Broce said. "We have a busy fall, and it would be nice if we can start our season out strong."
Leading the Rockets in the first tournament will be a pair of All-Mid-American Conference honorees, junior Chris Selfridge and sophomore Otto Black. Selfridge topped the MAC with a 72.1 stroke average last year and registered eight Top 10 showings, while Black ranked second on the team and sixth in the MAC with a 73.5 mark. The aforementioned duo will be joined in UT's lineup by juniors Mike Lancaster (76.2), Jamie Richardson (76.2) and Pat Cermak (77.4).
