Toledo survived a quick turnaround following its 3-1 defeat earlier Friday afternoon to register a 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-14) triumph over Saint Francis (PA).
Senior OH Jordan Kielty paced the Rockets with nine kills with senior RSH Becca Reidy contributing six kills and three blocks. Senior MB Dakota Harkins tallied a team-high four blocks and registered a team-best .667 hitting mark with 4-0-6 totals.
Toledo was able to limit the Red Flash to a miniscule .011 attack percentage and recorded nine blocks in the contest. Junior OH Kayla Jeckell was SFU's leader in kills with eight.
"We had only about 30 minutes of recovery time, and I was happy with how we handled that," Head Coach Greg Smith said. "We ran a 6-2 offense which is something we've been working on, and it worked out well for us. I thought we blocked the ball for the most part today, but our timing was off a little and that led to a lot of missed opportunities to score points."
Nearly the entire Rocket roster saw action in the contest with junior OH Natalia Parreira, sophomore S Alex Hines (10 assists), and freshman OH Mary O'Connor (1 kill, 2 blocks) making their season debuts.
