Erie has a new monument to go along with the Perry 200 Celebration.
More than 100 people gathered at the bayfront for the unveiling of a memorial to the Battle of Lake Erie.
The monument overlooks the bay where the Lake Erie Fleet was built, which included the Niagara and the Lawrence.
During the ceremony Mayor Joe Sinnott and members of the Honor Guard laid a wreath at the site.
The front of the memorial bears the names of the ships in the fleet, and the famous quote from Oliver Hazard Perry, "We have met the enemy and they are ours."
The back lists the names of more than 90 donors who made the monument possible.
It's the capstone for a successful Perry 200 Commemoration.
