After almost 20 years of planning, Millcreek township finally has a senior center.
A ribbon cutting ceremony took place Tuesday morning for the new facility on Legion road.
It's located beside the US Post Office.
A committee of private citizens formed in 1994 to create a senior center in the township.
That committee faced multiple setbacks, and even sold personalized bricks 15 years ago to help finance it.
It was a long wait, but those who purchased the bricks now have their name on a large mural inside the facility.
The new facility is being called the "Joy Center."
JOY stands for Just Older Youth.
