The Benedictine Sisters of Erie received recognition Tuesday from County Executive Barry Grossman.
He presented his monthly Excel Award to the sisters during a ceremony at the courthouse.
Grossman pointed out the many things they do for the community. Providing food, housing, and spiritual guidance to the needy.
He said the sisters have shown a long-time commitment to Erie county.
"Everywhere I go in the community, I bump into these ladies' good works," said Grossman. "It's overwhelming. They don't do it for profit, they do it for compassion, and love, and caring," Grossman added.
"Benedict does say that to co-create the world is what we're about. And we do that one person at a time," said Benedictine Sister Anne Wambach.
The sisters sponsor many programs including the Emmaus Ministries, the Inner-City Neighborhood Art House, and the Saint Benedict Community Center.
